Stopped at
Bencubbin another town fighting to survive in these hard times.
A cuppa on
the local café which was nice.
Then we moved on to Marshall Rock Camp Ground for a
look, guess what decided it was nice so would stay a couple of days 11th, 12th, 13th.
There are
actually 2 big rocks here with the camp ground in between which has toilet,
tables and seats, rainwater tank and information shed.
We set out
and climbed Marshall Rock, the view from the top looking over the farmland is
lovely.

Even a table and seat on the top of the rock for a rest. Though one can drive to the top carefully in a car.
Wild Budgies warming in the morning sunshine.
A native weeping apricot tree with flowers and fruit we have never seen one before.
Lunch then
decided a walk around Gardener Hill (rock) would be good. Half way around the
track petered out, so we took to the bush and continued on. Found some Gum
trees where it looked like the Galahs (birds) were nesting as there were quite
a few hollows in the trunks of the trees.
Eventually
made our way back to the van, no orchid’s at all only daisies and flowering
trees. The rock pincushions (Borya Sphaerocephala) look really dried out and
quite brown through lack of moisture.
Decided we
would climb Gardener hill in the morning.
Awoke to
cloudy skies with the look of rain and a strong breeze blowing. Even so we
rugged up and set off. Kathy had to stop a couple of times as it was quite
steep, we eventually made it – BOY! If we thought the breeze was strong at the
bottom it was strong enough to almost blow us over up top. It was trying really
hard to wet us with rain. We took some photos and headed down the other side of
the hill to look for more orchids – no luck so back to the van to hibernate for
the day.
