54 Wallaman Falls

Moving ahead to Wallaman Falls up in the Great Dividing Range about 50ks out of Ingham through cane fields, then cattle country with cattle on the road.
They just walk straight down the center of the road not budging for the cars at all.

Located at Queensland's Girringun National Park, which is part of the Queensland Wet Tropics World Heritage site.

With Sue driving we climbed up the range with lots of switch backs and hairpin bends arriving at the top about 10:30am. There is a picnic area with tables also toilets for the tourists to use, a camping area is a short way from the falls for those wanting to camp there.
Wallaman Falls is part of the traditional lands of the Warrgamaygan Aboriginal people and is an Aboriginal sacred place.

Dropping from a height of 305 metres (1000 feet), Wallaman Falls is Australia's longest single-drop waterfall.

They are absolutely beautiful, spectacular we spent time on the lookouts checking out all we could see from the top.

Then following the track to the next lookout decided that a trip to the bottom was in order as we possibly would never come here again. Down the trail we went down, down, down to the bottom of the falls, a goat track had nothing on this one. More switch backs and steps and bends and steps oh did I mention steps.

We arrived at the base of the falls WOW! It was definitely worth the trip down to see.

Hopefully this video works for you to see how awesome the falls are.
YES, YES, YES it worked.....

After resting and having photos taken we started back up. After lots of stops we arrived back at the top 3 hours later.

It was only 2ks down and 2ks back up though the backup was hard work. It was well worth the trip.

We discovered when we arrived back that we had the keys to the car in the back pack. Tony and Sue had sat up top waiting, they could not have anything to eat or drink because we had the keys.

So sorry guys.

We expect to have sore legs over the next few days.
