Territory Wildlife Park

On Saturday we were off to visit the Territory Wildlife Park as it is only about 5 kms from the caravan park.

The map we were given tells what areas there are to see,  the Nocturnal House was closest to the entrance this was interesting but because it was dark we were unable to get many photos.

Made from Shovels these bats are very quiet

Then off to the feeding of the Pelicans at the Billabong. A young boy named John had the delight of helping to feed them as they are his favorite bird, mum and dad had paid so he could have this pleasure. He had a great time throwing the fish in to them. There were also Turtles and fresh water crocodiles in the billabong as well.

Next the Flight Deck where there was a demonstration and talk on Rapters. This was very interesting being able to see the birds actually interacting with the rangers. They also had a Barn Owl and a Jabiru both beautiful birds in their own right. The Barn Owl being silent in flight and the Jabiru having beautiful blue feathers on its head.

The Aquaruim was fantastic. We really enjoyed it and took longer in there than any of the others, maybe it had something to do with the fact when we lived in Katanning we had a lot of tropical fish tanks.

Handmade Box Jelly fish look great

The Dingos hid from us so no photos.
Buses/trains  running around the park all day and one could hop on and off at any location throughout the park, much easier than walking it all.

These are a couple of the stations throughout the park

On the way back to the caravan park we detoured out to the Darwin River Dam. Boy there is some water in it. A hexagon shape building houses a steam engine and other small motors and such for the public to see. It looks like a very popular place for picnics when the weather is nice.

A very enjoyable day.
