Coomalie Creek RV Park is just lovely, Ok it is between the
highway and the creek all grassed, the only down side is the distance one has
to walk to the ablution block 150 metres away but at $20 a night we booked in
for 5 nights another down is no mobile phone or internet so can only type these
up to post later.
The boys put their pots in in the hope of catching something
also got their fishing rods out.
Desma and I sat at the camp and crocheted little flowers.
It is still quite warm in the high 30`s though the humidity
has dropped which is great. Sorry I lie according to the weatherman in the
caravan it is 82%.
Litchfield National Park is an ancient landscape shaped by
water. It features numerous stunning waterfalls which cascade from of the
sandstone plateau of the tabletop range.
The park covers approximately 1500 sq. km and contains
representative examples of most of the Top End`s natural habitats.
Intriguing magnetic termite mounds, Historical sites. Whilst
monsoon forest walks provide retreats from the heat of the day.
Wednesday the 25th we headed off to Litchfield
National Park
Going right to the end then we would work our way back. We
stopped for a cuppa at Wangi falls on the way.
BOY is it expensive!!!!!
Continued on to Bamboo Creek Tin Mine, which we found very
interesting, I wondered how they even found the deposit out there.
The ruins that are left are made from rocks we assume from
the area, with quite a big house which they lived in.
The Cascades are a series of waterfalls along a creek. The
water is crystal clear as we followed the trail along the edge towards the
falls, over metal walkways, sand, muddy patches and rocks. Sitting in the water to cool off for a bit
small sort of like Prawns were crawling over Tim`s legs and feet just
delightful. As Kathy had taken a tumble on the way in she thought it best to
start making her way back to the car before things became too sore to move.
As
we made our way back to the car Graham suddenly was not well and needed a pick
me up, so it was chase up something sweet for him then first aid on Kathy.
We gave up and headed back to camp that’s it enough for
today.
Graham is fine now, Kathy twisted her left ankle and has
skin off both elbows and is a sore but recovering well.
Will give the rest of Litchfield a miss!!!
We hope your ankle and sore spots are feeling better and you are able to get around ok again, the pics are really lovely,
