The main objective of our next trip was doing the
registration of Sue and Tony`s car in
Atherton licensing centre only to find that it was “Show Day” and all
businesses were closed.
A local gentleman who was there said that Mareeba just up
the road had one that would be open! So off we went to Mareeba.
The registration
papers for the car had been sent onto the Cairns to be held at the post office.
When Sue tried to find out where they were she was informed there are 4 post
offices in Cairns which one was it sent to what postcode? So the licensing dept
was next on the list hence us going to Atherton.
Found the information centre and getting instructions to the licensing
centre.
The car sorted out, low and behold it was lunch time
again, talked over lunch and decided that as the Butterfly Santuary in Karunda
was on our list of things to see, having to go to Mareeba put us that much
closer we would head there.
It was worth the trip.
Have you ever tried to
photograph butterflies flying?
Not impossible but nearly so.
They are very
beautiful and interesting how they go through their breeding cycle.
They like Timothy`s head

While we were at Karunda the markets were on and you guessed
it, more shopping NO just looking… But check these out made out of small beads. WOW!
On the way home the country side went from hilly farming to
hilly forest to mountain rain forest very interesting. We stopped at the
Emerald Creek Ice Creamery for an ice cream choices, choices, choices, yumm.
Love the Peacocks. wow.
