Arrived at
the Emmaville Caravan Park to find only 2 vans parked there. A sign on the
ablution block door said if unattended setup & ring this number we will
catch up with you later.
Yeap that is
what happened was very quiet, but good. Apparently the shire was going to
demolish the ablution block and turn the area into a park. Until a few people
kicked up a stink about it so the shire said you look after it and it will stay
which resulted in the shopkeeper looking after the caravan park and the shop.
Wednesday
morning was overcast as we packed up and headed down town to check out the big
town of Emmaville.
Stopping in
the main street we did a walk around to find the shop to pay for our site, then
on past the post office, 2 pubs, garage and police station. This took us 30
minutes then it was back to the museum.
Emmaville
was a mining town Tin, Silver, Lead, Gold & throughout the region gem
stones.
The museum
was a great collection of rocks (Gemstones of all descriptions) including
meteorites, petrified wood, plus bottles and other memorabilia. It still took
us 3 hours to go through it all there was just so much to see. I really think
we could go back again and see things we missed completely the first time. As usual
Kathy had to have some retail therapy!
Upstairs
there was also a section on the history of the town and the people when the
town was first populated it was known as “Vegetable” then the name was changed
to “Emmaville”. This is what is under the town of Emmaville.
