Left Lakeveiw Caravan Park at about 8.30
on the outskirts of town the country was quite
barren and bare then it changed to open plain.
They say the Nullarbor is the treeless plain
well that has nothing on this, it was like this for about 100ks just 300cm high
scrub NO TREES AT ALL there was a few undulations in the distance which added a
bit of interest.
Fueled up and had lunch at Wilcannia next to
the driver reviver caravan from here the countryside changed again to higher 2
to 3 metre high shrubs gradually getting taller.
Has the look of definite station country as we
know it Jam trees and Sheoaks, Emu`s, Goats, goats & more goats!!!! With
the odd sheep & cattle.
This continued for about another 100ks all
around the base of the trees as high as the goats can reach has been eaten and
cleared out so we are able to see for approx. 500 metres either side of the road.
Tim says there must be about 20 goats to the
acre by the bareness of the trees & ground.
Crossing a bridge over the river it was like a
switch had been thrown West side no rain dry and barren East side heaps of rain
all was lush and green.
By 3pm decided enough travel for the day it was
time to camp so circled up the wagons and had happy hour.
