Wednesday woke up to another heavy fog this morning, quite
damp and chilly, condensation on all the windows of the van. By the time we
broke camp at 8:30am the sun was shining through and it looked like being
another nice day.
As we progressed along the road to Penong there was a vast
difference in the fuel prices down to $1.65 a litre from $2:08 at Nullarbor.
The farmers have and are in the process of dry seeding looks
like they have had odd bits of rain maybe enough to start them off.
The ladies all sorted out the food last night in preparation
of the check point at Ceduna.
Cooked vegies and fruit to be eaten later on.
Tim and Kathy were sent into town to shop while everyone
else waited at the service station just on the edge of town.
Then an easy run onto Minnipa Apex Park for our night stop.
WOW! There was even a concrete crappa for us to use.
Quite a lot of other vans pulled in to spend the night looks
like a very popular spot.
Thursday was another beautiful day on the road by 8am
heading for Peterborough, saw a bear in a plain wrapper (Unmarked Police car),
also gypsy cart was Ian Retallick raising money for cancer.
The dollops of horse poop had us all stumped trying to work
out what was leaving them on the right side of the road, was it brumbys, a
horse float then around a corner the gypsy cart appeared puzzle solved.
Had lunch in Port Augusta on the edge of the river after
fueling up
then on the road again a good run through to Peterborough arriving
at about 2:30pm set up and then had happy hour…..
Friday did the tour of town and the Steamworld and the
vintage motorbike place again, also the cactus place and lookout.
Off to Broken Hill tomorrow.
