26 Kingaroy

On a tour to Kingaroy for shopping we past Joh Bjelke-Petersen`s place looked just like any other farm house you see.
Also passed peanut farms, in town we learnt about peanut farming.

The first thing you see as you come into town are the big silos where the peanuts are stored.
Just like the cement silos in Bunbury before they were turned into multimillion dollar apartments.
This year they did not fill them as the crop was not good, in the museum attached to the information centre, there was a lot of early machinery that was used for mostly harvesting the peanuts. From hand pulling to stooking to today`s mechanical digging and threshing to carting all in one.

Peanut Plant with nuts attached.

Automatic Tea making outfit, never seen one of these before. Purchased in 1945 for 33 pounds.
Early fire fighting cart.
Power pole from the rear of the power house, removed in 2005
Once again we found this very interesting, below is a website that explains all about peanuts.
